Walmart- Cyber Monday’s Ad is Here

November 30th, 2009

A few of the promised Cyber Monday Walmart sales are listed at last! Don’t forget that Walmart offers not a single day of sales, but an entire “Cyber Week” of bargains. Walmart also is offering $.97 shipping on all Cyber week sales.

Quantities are limited and deals will change daily, so it’s worthwhile to check their site often or follow updates on Walmart’s Twitter feeds.

Here are of the early releases from Walmart’s Cyber Week Sales:

Sony Bravia 32″ HDTV – $398

Nintendo DSi Bundle – $189

Kodak Easy Share with 4 GB SD Card – $79

Nintendo DS Lite Bundle – $149

Sanyo 42″ HDTV with Home Theater system – from $728

Sanyo Digital camera with case and SD card – $65

Better Homes and Gardens Holiday dishes 12 pc set – $25

Acer Aspire One 10.1’’ Netbook $328

Dell Mini 10.1’’ Netbook $398

Sony VAIO 15.5’’ Notebook $698

Sprint Palm Pre with 2 year contract $75

More deals will be posted continually, but these early releases echo the savings of Black Friday. You’ll discover many electronics on sale and some added bonuses, (like the Holiday dish sets). Find something you like during  Cyber Week sales at Walmart? Jump on it quick! Cyber Week deals are some of the best you’ll find this year and like all fabulous buys, vanish quickly. One word of caution though- compare prices momentarily to competitors like Best Buy and Amazon- both are giving Walmart a Cyber run for their money.

How to top Black Friday? Cyber Monday!

November 28th, 2009

For those of you who didn’t make it out to the sales on Black Friday but are seeking a deal on electronics, hold on a few days- Cyber Monday is coming. Cyber Monday, which is the Monday following Black Friday, heralds the beginning of the holiday season and offers super deals on electronics. You’ll find sales from major retailers such as Target, Sears, Best Buy, Apple and Walmart to be sporting bargains on computers, laptops and netbooks.

Wondering why you don’t hear about Cyber Monday as much as Black Friday? Retailers hold off on advertising during Black Friday weekend.

For those who found limited quantities on cyber-tronics during Black Friday, and were disappointed you’ll find a greater amount and range of discounted products during Cyber Monday’s sales. ( At my own Walmart there were only ten of each Black Friday netbooks offered, which was gut wrenching for folks who lined up two hours earlier). Due to the recession, you’ll find large discounts on Cyber Monday.

Here are a few of the great bargains to be had:

Enter “CYBERMONDAYVAIOCS” in Sony’s web site when you buy Sony Vaio laptops to save $200.00

Take 15% off every IdeaPad and G Series on Lenovo’s site by using code- USP15SVEBIG

Walmart is offering 50 deals for the week, “Cyber Week” which runs till December 04.

Apple’s Cyber Monday’s sales last year were disappointing for many. This year, it’s reported the deals will be greater. (We consumers expect more than the free shipping offered last year from Apple- I mean, doesn’t everyone want an Apple?)

Stay tuned in here and I’ll keep you updated with specifics. Don’t forget that other stores, like Toys R Us and Kmart will be offering Cyber Monday sales, too. Find those items you missed out on during Black Friday and beat the hustle and bustle of retail holiday shopping- most Cyber Monday sales are online deals as well as in store. You can get the items shipped right to your door and miss fighting all the crowds that were out on Black Friday!

Coupons for Black Friday- Stacking the Savings!

November 26th, 2009

As a frugal sort of woman, I’m not content with simply partaking in sales. I need coupons, added discounts and rebates to feel validated when spending money- even on Black Friday.  This is why I was thrilled to find some added perks for Black Friday savings.

For those who don’t want to fight the crowds and prefer the online bargain hunting- here is a complete list of coupon codes for over 20 retailers such as Old Navy, Sears and Home Depot.  Nearly all of these codes offer free shipping for your online purchases.

Others like Deb’s are offering coupons on merchandise. Use this coupon for $25 off a $125.00 purchase (online or in store).

CVS is offering a sweet deal- choose $15 off your $65 online order or print a coupon for $5 off a $30 purchase.  If you buy online, simply load your virtual shopping cart with sixty five dollars in items to save $10. Get the extra $5 off when you use your Mastercard to pay. Click here for details on these savings!

If you are buying online, don’t forget to use your Ebates account for all purchases. Take advantage of special offers at over 1,200 online merchants. You’ll find cash back up to 12% on Lancome or 10% at the Body Shop. Grab up the Kohl’s discounts and tuck in double cash back from Ebates this month with a 4% big fat reward. My favorite bonus buy- $60 in gift cards at Borders for only $50 AND heap on a 6% cash back reward from Ebates.

Of course, if you have a reward credit card like Discover More, you’ll be able to rake in the savings on top of these deals to bring discounts and rewards on top of the already awesome Black Friday deals.

Beat Black Friday Rush at Amazon!

November 25th, 2009

Don’t want to stand in line or fight the crowds on Black Friday? Day after Thanksgiving sales can be a hassle and time consuming. Beat the throngs of people by doing some online shopping pre-Black Friday by shopping Amazon this entire week.

One caveat- You’ll need to check the site often each day to find the best deals. Remember these deals are for a limited number of items, so don’t dally on purchasing if you find a bargain.  Though Wal-Mart is known as the mother ship of all holiday bargains on Black Friday, Amazon’s giving a Wal-Mart a good run for their money.

If you are budget conscious, you may find online shopping to be a boost to staying on track fiscally. You will do less impulse buying when not confronted with kiosks bulging with “too good to pass up” items that rack up spending via virtual shopping.

Amazon’s straightforward deals are listed below, though prices aren’t posted until the day of sale. Nearly all electronics, movies, and household items are slashed by 50 percent or more!

Is Satellite TV really THAT much cheaper than cable?

November 12th, 2009

Today’s post is a guest post from Kevin at www.satellitetvguru.net. He’s helping us sort out complicated questions about satellite TV versus cable costs. With all the advertising being thrown at consumers its difficult to really know which is a better value. The average person doesn’t have time to separate the hype from the facts. Watching pennies is all the more important with the holidays looming before us. Saving on media costs is another excellent way to keep cash in your pocket.

Is Satellite TV really THAT much cheaper than cable?

Ads for satellite TV really paint a cost-saving picture for consumers, which are growing increasingly important during tumultuous economic times such these. Both Dish Network and DirecTV boast cheaper programming than cable and the better values overall. For any ads it’s important to cut through the malarkey and discover just what consumers are paying for and if satellite TV really is the cheaper alternative.

Currently, the cheapest cable program belongs to comcast who offers a basic package for just $16.99, but before you get too excited this package merely acts as a method to provide local channels to customers who do not want or are unable to obtain a digital antenna. Besides local channels, the basic package contains a handful of public programming. This is also without HD services or DVR functionality. For many families, Comcast’s bargain-basement package serves them well. But for those who are scaling back on TV prices, just having local channels via standard definition leaves a little to be desired. When people say “cable,” we think of channels like ESPN, CNN, USA and TNT. If we were to look at true “cable” packages from Dish Network, DirecTV and Comcast, the choice is clear: Comcast charges much more for the similar packages found in the two leading satellite providers.

Comcast, Dish and DirecTV all offer good deals for new customers (they also offer good deals for existing customers who threaten to cancel. I’m just sayin’). Comcast offers their Digital Starter package for $29.99 which features a pretty extensive line-up containing over 80 digital channels. As good as the deal sounds, it only lasts for six months and then the price skyrockets to $55.99. Bundling this package will save some cash if you want a VOIP phone line and high-speed cable. All of Comcast’s packages have an introductory price but all of them go up considerably. Comcast’s DVR service also costs are also a bit higher.

Dish Network offers similar introductory offers. The “Classic Bronze 100″ and “Classic Bronze 100+” both have discounted services at $24.99 and $29.99 respectively but go up nearly $15 at the end of the year-long commitment. “Classic Bronze 100″ offers more than 120 channels, including locals, CNN, ESPN, Disney Channel and Discovery Channel. “Bronze 100+” merely adds local sports coverage. Customers can add HD service for $10 and DVR service for an additional $6. According to Dish’s web site, HD service gives customers 55 more channels, which is a bit misleading since most of the channels are HD versions of existing stations.

Oddly, if you order Dish Networks cheapest package, Dish Family, it doesn’t have an introductory offer and costs only $24.99, not including HD and DVR services. The package contains local stations and a handful of family-friendly programming such as Nickelodeon, Discovery, Animal Planet and TV Land. Cable news giant Fox News is also provided.

DirecTV offers similar packages as Dish with bigger deals for new customers. The “Choice Package” offers over 150 channels including music channels. Normally this package runs $55.99 but for new customers DirecTV will only charge $29.99 for a full year. HD service at DirecTV is another $10 along with DVR service at $6, the same as Dish. DirecTV offers similar package discounts on all of the lineups. Their “Premier Package,” which is basically every program they have, includes premiums for $83.99 until 2011, not including HD and DVR. Even without the discount, DirecTV’s largest package arrives around $109 and compared to Comcast’s version of this plan, which currently costs $127, that’s still a pretty good deal.

Minus the basic cable package from Comcast which is just local programming, both DirecTV and Dish Network provide not only cheaper programming but much better value.

To summarize- Though the basic channel package from Comcast seems like a great savings on first glance, an apples to apples comparison paints a different picture. Thank you Kevin, for helping all the Cool Mommies (and Dads) understand this complex issue!

Top Ecoupons and Tips for Ease!

November 4th, 2009

e-Gad! Ton’s of e-Coupons!!!!

I’ve often commented on P & G Brandsaver e-coupons that you can upload onto your Kroger, Martins or Owens cards. But that’s not the end all of e-coupons companies- there are a few more to share and some tips to make it super easy!

What are e-coupons? In case you’ve not done this, you can go to each of these sites and select coupons you like once you’ve made a profile or entered required data. Select your shoppers card you want coupons to be added to, such as Kroger’s and when prompted enter the card number.

How long till they are on my card?  Coupons will be uploaded to your card and will be live anywhere (depending on site) from a few minutes to hours.

Do I have to enter all my data each time? Information is stored on the site(s), so usually you don’t need more than a login and/or password to re-enter and get new coupons.

How do I keep track of these e-coupons? Print a list of coupons off from each site and keep with your other coupons for ease when shopping.

Can you still use manufacturer’s coupons too? You can stack multiple manufacturers’ coupons, as you normally would do for all three of these companies on your grocery card all at once.

Do they expire? Are they renewable?  All three companies, P & G, Cell-fire and Shortcuts, have expiration dates on coupons. P & G coupons are good usually for 60 days, while other’s vary per coupon.

Cell-fire: Enter your cell phone (home phone works, too), date of birth and zip code to take part in this super easy coupon site. Coupons are added monthly, so you’ll need to grab them early on in the month to maximize their potential.

Shortcuts:  This site has  a wide range of coupons and even has a few organic coupons available usually. No phone needed to activate.

E-coupons, like paper coupons are another means to save money. You’ll love the ease of keeping a few more bucks. Always check your receipt to be sure coupons are activated. Generally, if you have double coupons, only one can be used for each offer.

pang ecoupons

It’s the beginning of another month! This of course means only one thing- a veritable ton of coupons!

Check out the newest ($80) in coupons from P and G eSaver, (the service that will load your Kroger or national brand coupons right on your shopper’s card). These ecoupons are good from Nov 01- Dec 31, when you can then spend the New Year reloading your shopper’s card.

Take advantage by stacking these with the coupons from the Sunday inserts. Today’s P @ G Brandsaver insert has matching coupons that will double up your savings!

 For Example:

Use ecoupon (wow) $10 off any Crest Advanced White Strips (14 count)

Stack with P & G Brandsaver coupon in Nov 01 Sunday paper- $7.00

Total Savings $17.00

Cost around $44.00 (Wait till Kroger has a sale, usually these can drop down to $35.00)

You can pick up these up for nearly half price @ $18.00!!!!

Or

Use ecoupon on Pringles $.50 on any two Pringles

Stack with P & G Sunday insert, $.50 on any two Pringles

Get each one for $.50 in the buy 2 for $2.00 sale using both coupons.

A few tips on these ecoupons,

1. You can only use them once in the given time frame. (Nov 01- Dec 31)

2. Use them wisely by stacking AND waiting for a sale

3. If you lose track of what you’ve used, simply re-login to P and G esaver and print out another eco-friendly list

4. These take about an hour to be active on your card. I’ve never had a problem, but always do check register reciept when you purchase to make sure you’ve gotten credit for them. They will show up as “esaver” coupons on the reciept.

5. You can only load 50 coupons at a time. If you go hog-heaven coupon happy and check every box, the system will kick you out. Simply use a few up and then load any unused, but desired coupons later.

Here are but a few of the offerings from the newest P & G ecoupons offerings:
